大暑是一年中最熱的節氣，香港氣溫平均達30度以上。
正值中伏前後，大地上熱氣蒸騰，酷氣難耐；
大暑亦是雷陣雨最多的時節，時常出現大雨及行雷閃電。
大暑時天氣酷熱，出汗多，容易耗氣傷陰，此時人們往往處於「無病三分虛」的狀態。所以，除了要及時補充體內水分之外，還應該常吃一些益氣養陰的食品以增強體質，防止暑濕之邪侵人身體。

【習俗】
大暑時，最簡單的「冬病夏治」法就是食補。古人雲：「世間第一補人之物乃粥也」。
明代名醫李時珍也很提倡以粥養生，認為每天早晨起床後，空腹喝一碗粥，可以起到補氣的作用，又能夠調節脾胃，一舉兩得。

【忌吃】
忌食油膩食物：以免增加腸胃負擔，導致腹脹、消化不能，老人、兒童尤忌。
忌食生冷食物：以免脾臟性不佳。
【注意】
大暑早餐不宜冷
由於夜晚的陰氣在早晨還未完全消散，人體內的肌肉、神經、血管都還處於收縮狀態，如果早餐食用冷食，會讓體內各個系統收縮得更加嚴重，傷及胃氣。
【食譜配合】
南瓜綠豆湯
配方：南瓜300克，綠豆200克，薏米50克，山藥30克，枸杞子10克，鹽適量。
做法：
1.南瓜洗淨，切成小塊；山藥洗淨，去皮，切成薄片；綠豆、薏米分別洗淨。
2.鍋內放清水、綠豆、薏米，以大火煮滾，撇去浮沫。
3.加入南瓜、山藥，大火煲滾後轉細火慢燉，至南瓜、山藥成糊，綠豆酥爛，最後加適量鹽調味即可食用。
