立秋是二十四節氣中第一個關於秋天的節氣，是炎夏即將會過去的預告。本港位於亞熱帶，所以實際上還要再過多個月才能享受秋天帶來的涼意，而立秋後仍然天氣炎熱，正正就是「秋老虎」的現象。
「立秋不是秋，秋在處暑後」，所以民間有「秋老虎」之說，中醫也會將立秋到秋分間的日子稱為「長夏」
立秋「初候，涼風至」，一早一晚有清涼之感
【習俗】
1. 吃秋桃
立秋日吃一顆秋桃，並把桃核藏起來，到了除夕當天燒燼，這也有遠離疾病的寓意。
2. 乞巧
在立秋後，處暑前有著七夕節，也就是牛郎與織女一年一度相會的日子。七夕也代表七星娘娘誕辰，該神明為護兒童的守護神。
3.啃秋
在這天可以啃食玉米、甜瓜、香瓜等食物，也象徵著咬住豐餘。
【立秋推薦食材】
粟米、冬瓜、苦瓜、烏梅、提子
【忌吃】
忌食辛辣燥熱食物：忌吃或少吃這類食物，以免秋燥引發疾病。
忌食油膩食物：以免造成腸胃負擔過重。
忌飲酒過量：以免體內燥氣過重。
忌多吃秋瓜：忌吃或少吃秋瓜，以免傷害脾胃陽氣，如西瓜、香瓜等。
【注意】
夏季夜短晝長，酷暑外蒸，人體氣血趨於表面，隨覑汗液的增多，會氣陰耗損，當今長夏時節水氣潮濕侵犯人體，影響脾的運化，身體需要以中藥調補。

清補涼
材料：玉竹15、蓮子15、百合15、生薏仁15、芡實15、淮山4片、龍眼肉8粒。
做法：沖洗共煲，待熟綿即可食用。（若舌苔呈黃厚，口氣重濁者，去龍眼肉，加粟米2條）功效：清熱利濕，生津養陰，健脾益氣
